Titans power through District Tournament
The Garrison Titans opened the American Legion Baseball District Tournament with three consecutive victories, combining timely hitting with dominant pitching to earn a place in the championship round at Washburn.
Garrison defeated the Bismarck Barons 13-2 on Friday, July 17, before shutting out the Post 144 Knights 4-0 on Saturday. The Titans followed those victories with a 6-4 win over the Beulah Cyclones on Sunday, July 19.
Through the first three rounds, Garrison outscored its opponents 23-6. The Titans’ pitching staff did not surrender an earned run over 20 innings, while the offense collected 30 hits.
“We have seen excellent performances on the mound thus far,” Garrison Head Coach Gage Gehring said. “Our pitchers have executed their pitches and have done a great job of getting up early in counts. We have also done a great job driving in runners in scoring position. I also feel that we have done a great job in the field. We have made necessary plays in tight situations, avoiding mistakes and limiting runs allowed.”
The Titans began the tournament with an offensive surge against the Barons.
