Titans struggling down the stretch

By STU MERRY
It doesn’t matter how many runs you score, if you give up even more, you’re going to be on the losing end.
That scenario’s played out quite a bit lately for the Titans American Legion Baseball team.
In three recent games, the Titans have scored 18, 12 and 10 runs, winning only once.
The perfect mix of a couple walks, a couple errors, and a couple hits by Stanley led to several crooked numbers Monday in what ended up being a 19-10 loss.
“Offensively, it’s hard to not be happy with scoring 10 runs, it really just comes down to having to do a better job as a team of keeping the opponents score down,” bemoaned Coach Andrew Haugen.
In the nightcap, the Titans finally ended up on the right side of a high scoring game, eking out a 12-11 victory.
Friday, Hazen plated four runs in the first inning of the opener, leaving the bases loaded.
The Titans answered with one on back-to-back doubles by Nash Wimer and Noah Sloka but couldn’t score more.
