Troop second at regionals

Troop second at regionals
By STU MERRY

Midnight came too early this past Friday at the Region 5 championship game for the Cinderella Garrison Troopers boys basketball team.
The gilded carriage the Troopers were riding – destination the Class B Tournament – turned into a pumpkin, and the carriage master was Shiloh Christian’s Donovan Lambert.
Lambert, who averages more than 19 points per game, caught fire in the second half of the region championship game at the Bismarck Civic Center. The senior was 7-10 from beyond the three-point line. Six of those treys came in the decisive second half.
Garrison held the lead after one quarter, 15-12. The Troop was down only by one, 27-26, at the half. But the second half belonged to the Skyhawks. After going up 30-29 early in the third, Shiloh, or, rather, Lambert, took over. Garrison shooters could only manage 11 points the remainder of the game. For the second half, the Troop was a paltry 3-21 from the field for 14.3 percent. From beyond the arc, Garrison shooters were 0-6.
