Trooper boys, girls win

Ladies now 10-1, boys 5-9

The annual county battle on the hardwood between the Washburn Cardinals and Garrison Troopers was Tuesday night. The stage was the Roy Schei Gym. When the final buzzer sounded the Trooper varsity teams had taken two from their District 10 rivals.

The ladies took the spotlight in the first game with Garrison winning 53-45. The telltale quarter was the second when the Troopers outscored their Washburn counterparts 13-2. Seven Troopers chalked up numbers in the score book, led by Sarah Behles’ 11. Ellie Gehring and Taylor Kamp each scored nine. Washburn was led by Heidi Scheetz who had 11. Washburn was 8-11 from the line, while Garrison girls were 6-8.

With the win, the Lady T’s move to 10-1 on the year and 5-0 in the district. Washburn stands at 3-10 overall and 1-4 in the district.

The nightcap also went the home team’s way. Garrison boys also relied on a strong second quarter to power them to a victory.
