Trooper cross country travels to Valley City

This past Saturday, the Garrison Troopers cross-country team traveled to Valley City for the Bill Jansen Memorial Cross-Country meet at Bjornson Park. This is the course that will be run for the state cross-country meet. Varsity Class A and Class B runners ran separately; however, all of the junior varsity runners ran in the varsity B races.
Jonathan Price competed in the varsity Class B and all JV boys 5,000-meter run. Jonathan conquered the course in a time of 17:58 for an 11th place finish out of 253 runners.
Jaimee White Bear competed in the varsity Class B and all JV girls 4,000-meter race. Jaimee completed the course in a time of 19:22 for a 120th place out of 224 runners.
The junior high boys’ 3,000-meter race had two Trooper runners. Ryan Dimitch completed the course in a time of 15:03 for a 107th place finish and Eddie White Bear’s time was 17:08 for a 124th place finish. The race consisted of 129 Class A and Class B runners.
The final race of the day, the junior high girls’ 3,000 meters, also contained two Garrison runners. Robyn Essler ran the course in the time of 14:05 for a 37th place finish and Jess Dimitch finished in a time of 16:00 for a 96th place finish. There were 143 Class A and Class B runners in the race.
It was an 80-degree day with a calm breeze. The runners reported that the combination of heat and hills was a little challenging.
