Trooper ladies nab three more

Kamp eclipses 1,000 points

By STU MERRY

The Garrison Lady Troopers stretched their record to 14-3, adding three more wins this past week.

Wins included Washburn Jan. 26, 52-31, Max, Jan. 28, 48-35, and Center-Stanton, Saturday, 81-27.

But the highlight of the week came Saturday night against Center-Stanton. Taylor Kamp put her name in the Trooper record book, passing the 1,000-point mark.

The feat came in the third quarter when Taylor pulled up and drained a trey from the wing, bringing the Trooper fans to their feet. Taylor finished the night with a game-high 24.

Taylor joins some pretty elite company, including her mother, Rhonda (Lagge) Kamp. Rhonda is No. 2 on the all-time scoring leader list for the Lady Troopers. Rhonda scored 1457 during her illustrious high school career.

Rhonda said she and Taylor knew the 1,000-point benchmark was within reach Saturday.

Watching her daughter follow in her footsteps, reaching the benchmark, was pretty exciting.
