The Garrison Troopers cross country team competed in the Magic City Lions Invitational Cross Country meet at the Souris Valley Golf Course in Minot on Thursday, Sept. 16. This meet is known to be a tough course with rolling straightaways and a steep climb up the side of one hill that the JV and varsity boys tackled twice in their run.
Most of the runners felt that they had a good run considering the tough course. The weather conditions at the time of the race consisted of cloudy skies with a 70-degree temperature. It was windy; however, the winds slowly died down as the meet progressed which caused the air to become muggy.
The junior high girls’ Class A and B 3,000-meter run consisted of 85 runners. Seventh-grader Taylor Kamp was the 31st runner to cross the line with a time of 14:21. She was the 9th Class B runner through the chute. Jessica Dimitch was the 44th finisher with a time of 14:54. She was the 15th Class B runner to cross the line. The team of two placed 12th out of 24 teams.
