Troopers battle through dramatic week on diamond
The Garrison Troopers baseball team experienced nearly every emotion possible during a busy three-game stretch last week, suffering a heartbreaking extra-inning loss to Bishop Ryan after nearly pulling off a major comeback, narrowly falling to Shiloh Christian in walk-off fashion, and dropping a tightly contested pitchers’ duel against Velva/Drake-Anamoose.
Despite finishing the week 0-3, the Troopers continued showing flashes of strong offensive production and competitive pitching as they remain in the middle of the Region VI standings race.
Garrison opened the week Wednesday, May 6, on the road against Velva/Drake-Anamoose in a game dominated by pitching and defense.
The Aggies managed the game’s only run in the bottom of the second inning and made it stand up in a 1-0 victory. Both teams struggled offensively throughout the afternoon, combining for just six total hits.
The Troopers collected four hits in the loss, with Brody Seidler, Emmet Lagge, Ethan Butman and Aiden Ferguson each recording one hit. Ferguson also added a walk for Garrison.
