Troopers close regular-season home slate
The Garrison Troopers girls basketball team continued its strong late-season push last week, picking up two important home victories to improve its standing in Division B Region 4 and build momentum heading into the postseason.
Garrison opened the week on Thursday, Jan. 29, with a 41-27 win over New Salem-Almont in a District 8 matchup that featured steady defensive play and balanced scoring.
The Troopers set the tone early, edging the Bulldogs 12-9 after the opening quarter as both teams worked through early nerves and defensive pressure.
New Salem-Almont kept the contest close in the second quarter, but Garrison maintained control by executing in the half court and limiting second-chance opportunities.
The Troopers took a 19-12 lead into halftime after continuing to find success attacking the lane and converting key defensive stops.
