Troopers edge out White Shield, add tournament victory
The Garrison Troopers opened October with a five-set road victory over White Shield before taking on five opponents at the Washburn Invitational, putting together a busy stretch ahead of three more matches against District 8 competition.
Garrison defeated White Shield 3-2 Thursday, Oct. 1, then finished Saturday’s tournament schedule with a victory, a tie and three losses. The Troopers split with Killdeer and defeated Glen Ullin, while falling to New Salem-Almont, Divide County and Drake-Anamoose.
The results give Garrison two recent victories to build on as the team turns its attention to an October schedule that includes Wilton-Wing, Washburn and Center-Stanton.
Thursday’s trip to White Shield produced the Troopers’ first win of the week. The teams went the full five sets before Garrison secured the 3-2 decision, leaving with a road victory after a contest in which both sides won multiple sets.
