Troopers erupt for three straight wins
The Garrison Troopers put together one of their strongest stretches of the season over the past week, stringing together three convincing victories and using dominant pitching, timely hitting, and explosive offense to continue climbing in the Region VI baseball standings.
By week’s end, Garrison improved to 4-2 in region play and 8-5 overall, sitting third in Region VI behind only Velva-Drake/Anamoose (6-1) and Bishop Ryan-Nedrose (6-2), while creating some separation from fourth-place Central McLean.
The Troopers’ impressive run began Tuesday, April 28, with a road victory over Central McLean.
In a matchup between two teams jockeying for position near the top of the standings, Garrison used a big third inning and a dominant performance on the mound from Grady Crawford to secure a 6-2 win.
The Troopers got on the board early with a first-inning run, then broke the game open in the third by plating four runs to seize control. Garrison added another insurance run in the fourth and let Crawford handle the rest.
At the plate, the Troopers produced nine hits and worked several key walks.
Gaige Roberts was a sparkplug offensively, finishing a perfect 2-for-2 while drawing two walks and reaching base four times. Ethan Butman delivered two hits in four at-bats and drove in two runs, while Laken Beyer added a productive 1-for-2 day with two RBIs.
