Troopers fall at regionals

Troopers fall at regionals
TL-M-M only District 10 team to advance

By STU MERRY

The Garrison-Max Troopers volleyball season is over. But then again, so are the seasons of District 10 partners Washburn and Wilton-Wing.
But that’s little consolation to a team that came into districts the No. 1 seed, riding a 8-1 run, only to lose its next three matches.
The only District 10 team to prevail and advance in Region 5 play Monday night is a team that’s been there, done that before – the Turtle Lake-Mercer-McClusky Trojans. The Troop fell to Washburn 3-2 at districts in Wilton.
In the region quarterfinals, held in Washburn, District 10 teams were, for the most part, roughed up by their District 9 counterparts. Grant County rolled over Wilton-Wing 3-1, while Flasher did the same (3-1) over Washburn.
The Troopers gave it the old college try, falling 3-0, but the scores were close (25-19, 25-17 and 25-19. The Troopers finished with a 10-7 record.
