Troopers fall short in district tilt

By MINDY IGLEHART

The Garrison Troopers boys’ season record fell to 1-3 after losing to Wilton-Wing 63-60 in district action Tuesday.

The Troopers controlled the scoreboard the first two quarters, moving the ball well, leading to a lot of easy points in the paint.

Things looked bright as the team went into half time with a 10-point lead against the Miners.

But the Miners came out in the third quarter, determined to shut the Troopers down, and that’s just what they did.

The press defense forced turnover after turnover for the Troop, giving the Miners the advantage to tighten the score. The third quarter ended in a tie at 50.

Garrison regained its composure in the fourth, but the Miners’ relentless defense forced more mistakes from the Troopers. The Miners took the lead with 7.8 seconds left; and the Troopers last ditch effort fell short.
