The curtain on the boys basketball season came down this past Thursday for local teams. The only teams that remain in Class B basketball are the eight who advanced to this weekend’s state tournament. Representing Region 5 will be the Flasher Bulldogs, No. 1 seed from District 9. The Bulldogs defeated favored Shiloh Christian 71-64.

Wilton-Wing took home third place honors this past Thursday at the Bismarck Civic Center, defeating the Garrison Troopers, District 10’s No. 1 seed, 53-51. The Troopers concluded the season 11-13, nearly identical to last year’s 12-13 mark.

Trooper Coach Jason Mattheis said success breeds success. At one time, at the start of a season, players and coaches set the goal to get to regionals. "Now, that we’ve been here a few times it’s to get here and play three days with the ultimate goal to play in the championship game," he said.
