Troopers girls go 2-1 in busy week
The Garrison Troopers girls basketball team navigated a demanding three-game stretch from January 6 through January 10, showing resilience and flashes of high-level play as they continue to establish their identity in a competitive District 8 field.
A narrow road loss to Central McLean opened the week, but the Troopers bounced back with an emphatic home win over Wilton Wing before closing out the stretch with a spirited come-from-behind victory against Grant County Mott Regent.
The Troopers began the week in Turtle Lake on Tuesday, January 6, where they faced the Central McLean Cougars, one of the top teams in Region 4.
Garrison started well, building an early 10 to 8 lead after one quarter and extending the advantage to 24 to 20 by halftime.
The Troopers continued to battle through the third, maintaining a slim 34 to 32 margin going into the final eight minutes.
The Cougars, however, swung the momentum late, capitalizing on defensive stops and clutch possessions to outscore Garrison in the fourth and pull out a 48 to 41 win.
