Troopers girls season comes to a close at Regionals
The Garrison Troopers saw its season come to a close Monday night, falling to Grant County-Mott/Regent 59-43 in the opening round of the NDHSAA Class B Region 4 Tournament.
Entering the tournament as the No. 3 seed, Garrison faced a tough draw against the No. 2-seeded Grant County-Mott/Regent squad on Feb. 23. The Troopers battled throughout the contest but were unable to overcome a strong offensive performance from their opponent, ending their postseason run in the first round.
The game opened with both teams working to establish tempo. Garrison looked to slow the pace and create quality opportunities in the half court, while Grant County-Mott/Regent sought to push the ball and capitalize on transition chances. Early on, the Troopers stayed within reach by contesting shots and attacking the basket.
As the first half unfolded, Grant County-Mott/Regent began to find its rhythm, connecting on timely shots and converting opportunities at the free-throw line. Garrison continued to compete on the defensive end, but extended scoring runs allowed the second seed to gradually widen the gap.
