The Lady Troopers are indeed troopers after their season opener game, which saw them being defeated by the team from Lewis & Clark-Berthold, 1-3, last Tuesday.
“We told them the communication was there,” said Brooke Walter, the Garrison Troopers junior varsity coach. “We looked really sharp.”
The first game of the season saw the Troopers play against an “actual varsity team,” Walter said, explaining that the opposing team included 12 seniors, “which is a lot for a Class B school.”
“We came out knowing what we had to work on, and that’s what we’re going to focus on,” Walter said.
Karli Klein had 20 kills. Coryssa Behles supplied seven kills and Naia Alvarez, four.
Josie Westman, Behles and Jyli Striha were aces, with Westman serving three aces and Behles and Striha, two each. Westman supplied 18 assists and Alvarez, 15 assists.
