Troopers rout Cougars
Mega Bowl looms Friday
By STU MERRY

The Garrison-Max Troopers broke loose this past Friday for a one-sided victory against a young Central McLean team that’s still getting used to 11-man football.
The Troopers scored early and scored often, en route to a 43-2 victory over the Cougars. The game was in Turtle Lake.
Coach Jason Mattheis was hard-pressed to think when a Trooper team had such an offensive outburst. “Don’t think we have had a win like that in the 12 years that I have been in Garrison,” he said.
Nonetheless, the win has inspired the team.
“It was a good feeling and a big confidence booster for our guys,” the coach said. “Central McLean … has some talented kids, but they are playing a lot of freshmen and sophomores. It is hard to win that way.”
The coaching staff doesn’t want the team to enjoy the victory too long. Another big game is Friday – the Mega Bowl. The game against Southern McLean is in Washburn.
