Troopers secure third place and regional berth at District 8 tournament
The Garrison Troopers turned in a determined postseason performance at the 2026 NDHSAA Class B District 8 Tournament, battling through a competitive bracket to finish third and earn one of four qualifying spots in the upcoming Region 4 Tournament. With a blend of balanced offense, steady defense, and timely execution, Garrison showed resilience throughout the multi-day event and positioned itself for the next stage of postseason play.
Head coach Matt Chase said his team embraced a simple approach throughout the tournament. “We just wanted to survive and advance. I think having that next game next play type mentality helps us a lot with preparation,” he said.
The tournament opened with a play-in contest that saw Center-Stanton defeat White Shield 56-20 to claim the eighth seed. That result set the stage for the main bracket, where top teams quickly established themselves. Flasher defeated Center-Stanton 51-25, while Washburn topped New Salem-Almont 40-25. Central McLean also advanced comfortably with a 79-45 win over Mandaree.
