Troopers Softball continues battling and demonstrating growth
The scoreboard has not been kind to the Garrison Troopers softball team in recent outings, but beneath the final scores is a group continuing to battle, compete, and find bright spots while working through one of the toughest stretches of its season.
Over two recent contests, the Troopers suffered losses to New England Tigers and Hazen Bison, but head coach Jacque Schible continues to see determination, grit, and individual growth from a team that has refused to stop competing.
Garrison opened the stretch Tuesday at home against New England in a game that briefly looked like it might turn into a shootout.
The Tigers struck first with four runs in the opening inning, but the Troopers answered immediately.
Garrison matched New England’s opening frame with four runs of its own in the bottom half, showing early fight and offensive life.
It was one of the sharper innings the Troopers have put together this spring, as they attacked at the plate and put pressure on New England’s defense.
