Troopers take down the Royals

BY TYSON SMEDSTAD
It was an interesting week for the Garrison-Max varsity football team. But when it was all said and done, the Troopers came out on top 26-12.
Originally, the game was scheduled for Friday at 5 p.m. at South Prairie. Realizing it may be dark by the time the game was over since their field has no lights installed, the time was pushed up to 4 p.m.
Then came “the storm.”
In a decision to try and beat the snow, the game was moved to Thursday afternoon, but with the promise of below freezing temps and a pile of snow of the way, it was postponed back to Friday.
There were mixed feeling at the school Friday of “I want to play football, but not in this weather,” one Varsity player said.
Around noon, the decision was made to push it back to Monday with hopes of better weather.
The weather was ‘better’ but the field was a swimming pool. As the players got up from tackles, they were dripping with water and wiping slush out of their eyes.
Even with the bad conditions, it was an exciting game.
