Troopers take two from Max

By STU MERRY

The high school neighborhood boys and girls got together once again this past Thursday for the annual shootout that pits the Max Cossacks vs. the Garrison Troopers.

A full house at Garrison’s Roy Schei Gym greeted the teams, and when the final horn sounded, the Troopers had claimed both ends of the varsity double dip. On the boys side, Garrison won 63-54. In the girls game, the Lady Troopers came alive in the fourth quarter to win by nine, 54-45.

The Trooper boys have wrapped up their district portion of the season and will come in the No. 1 seed. The remaining games will give the team time to hone its game.

"We have some tune-ups to get everything ready for the district tournament," said Coach Jason Mattheis. "We are happy with our progress so far, but we know that we will need to keep improving over the next few weeks if we want our success during the district regular season to carry over into the tournament."

Max boys Coach Jade Larson said he likes the way the Cossacks are also playing right now.
