Troopers to play for third

To meet Wilton-Wing once more

By STU MERRY

The Garrison Troopers’ hope to play in a second consecutive regional championship game came to an end Tuesday night in Bismarck. The team to dash Trooper dreams – the same team that did so last year, The Shiloh Christian Skyhawks. The only difference was this was a semi-final tilt.

Shiloh used its depth and defense to wear the Troopers down at the end, defeating Garrison 58-48. The Skyhawks, ranked No. 8 in the state, just had too many weapons. With the loss the Troopers will play District 10 foe Wilton-Wing for third place honors. The Miners fell to Flasher 44-40. The Troop defeated Wilton-Wing in the district championship game 49-46 in OT.

Dakota Rand led Garrison with 15 points and seven rebounds. Luke Gehring added 11.

Down 45-39 at the four-minute mark, Luke Gehring canned a deuce to cut the deficit to 45-41. But Shiloh answered with a pair of threes, and going 8-8 from the line in the waning moments did the Troopers in.
