Turnovers doom junior Troopers

By MINDY IGLEHART

The Junior High Troopers traveled to Hazen Sept. 28 to take on the Bison. A pre-game look at the sideline gave the impression of a mismatch based on the number of players suited up for each team. The Bison listed over 40 players on their roster while the Troopers, despite a similar enrollment, lined up only 18.

Turnovers were the story of the first half as each team had a pair, bogging down both offenses. At halftime nothing had been settled as the teams had played to a scoreless tie.

In the third quarter, Hazen got a big first down on a 3rd and 13 pass to extend their drive, eventually punching in a touchdown at the 0:35 mark of the quarter. The Troopers stopped the extra point attempt and the quarter ended with the Bison up 6-0.
