Warriors win home duals

White Shield Youth Wrestling and the McLean County Spartans wrestlers both had another packed weekend with three days of competition.
“Another long weekend but the kids did well,” Spartans head coach Dan Leppell said.
The Spartans wrestled at Burlington, St. Mary’s and White Shield, while the Warriors also visited Burlington and at home in White Shield, they also made a quick trek to Kenmare.
The White Shield Tournament was advertised as a regular tournament but was changed to a three team duals tournament the day before.
“We had to cancel our wrestling tournament for lack of entries, mainly due to the fear of the weather forecast. So, White Shield had a Triangular Dual with New Town and McLean County Spartans,” Warriors head coach Shannon Hodges said. “It wasn't a traditional dual. The coaches mixed and matched the best we could. Trying to get the best matches for the kids as possible. The kids gain more from wrestling a full or near a full match than getting pinned quick."
