Washburn Post 12 holds off Titans 2-0 at home

Washburn Post 12 edged out a narrow 2-0 win over the visiting Garrison Titans on Wednesday, June 25, in a game defined by dominant pitching and stingy defense on both sides.
In a contest that featured only five combined hits and 18 total strikeouts, early scoring by Washburn held up against a strong outing by Garrison starter Matt Jochim.
Post 12 wasted little time getting on the scoreboard, pushing across a run in the bottom of the first inning.
Leadoff hitter Hunter Wolff worked a walk and eventually came around to score, setting the tone for what would be a low-scoring, tightly played game.
Washburn added its second and final run in the third inning when Hudson Wolff singled and later scored on an RBI hit by Jack Retterath.
Retterath, who also got the start on the mound for Washburn, was in complete control through five innings.
The right-hander allowed just two hits and two walks while striking out seven Garrison batters. He was relieved by Alex Retterath, who picked up right where his brother left off, throwing two perfect innings to close out the game and secure the save.
Alex struck out three of the six batters he faced, preserving the shutout and the win.
