Young GHS athletes take on state track competition
Nearly 1,300 athletes from all over North Dakota qualified for the State Track Meet from Thursday to Saturday, May 21-23.
And Garrison High School sent two.
“Our two athletes represented Garrison well,” said Trooper Head Coach Jason Ermer. “Bella (Wimer) started off Thursday afternoon by getting a PR in the high jump and moving up eight or so rankings from where she came in.”
High jumpers can choose the height at which they start jumping.
GHS sophomore Wimer chose to start at 4’8”, which was her Personal Best.
Her third attempt cleared the bar, allowing her to move on.
"When she cleared 4'8", it was a nice jump that would have cleared 4'10", Ermer said. “I know she is going to get stronger this summer, and I am optimistic that she will be clearing 5" or higher next season.”
