Area sees first snow of the season
A light coating of frost and remaining flakes of snow coat rural properties east of Washburn Tuesday morning. Winter weather paid a visit to McLean County this week as a dusting of snow fell on central North Dakota. The National Weather Service advised on Friday that the first accumulation of snow this season was expected to arrive Monday, when light flurries started in the area. There was little accumulation to be observed locally, but a light covering of flakes coated much of the area through Monday evening. Washburn native wins 'Best of Show' in photo contest
Washburn Native Laura Gardner won four awards through the 2022 Governor’s Photo Contest this week, including Best of Show with this beauty picture above.

Coming in with a record of 4-5, the Washburn Cardinals volleyball team looked to get back to .500 with a win over Hazen.

PHOTO BY KELLI AMELING Students gathered Sept. 23 at Wilton Public Schools to participate in Homecoming activities, which consisted of musical chairs, table race, powderpuff football, a parade and more before heading to kickoff at the Homecoming football game in the evening. Pictured Mason Nielson was one of many teams participating in the table races where, as he sat on the top, his team rolled the table over their bodies. As the table rolled to the next student, that student ran to front to keep the table going down the gym floor. Each team had to make it from one end of the gym to the other.

Library board votes against ‘politically driven’ diversity grant
