Growing up
Rome wasn’t built in a day, but the new silos at CHS Garrison were close: in a week’s time, their new silos grew and grew to an impressive 142 feet. Concrete was poured shortly before noon on May 2. Shortly after 1 a.m. this past Sunday, with construction going 24/7, external work was completed with the last bit of concrete poured.
Meanwhile, back at the ranch
Surrounded by cows and standing in a field moist with rain, snow and cow dung, Senator John Hoeven heard and saw first-hand how the recent winter weather that slammed the North Dakota countryside affected ranchers.
Max principal, superintendent resign
The Max Public School board is faced with the process of hiring a principal and superintendent while the current counterparts both resigned at the school board’s monthly meeting last Thursday evening.

Blizzard buries area … again
Twenty-nine inches of snow fell in Garrison during the blizzard that struck the majority of North Dakota last week, followed by another four inches in an Easter Sunday storm.
Garrison gets OK on park grant
The Garrison Parks and Recreation District will receive $278,481 – half of the total projected cost – for their community swimming pool renovation.
‘Natural decrease’ not seen in McLean County
McLean County was among a handful of counties in North Dakota to not see a natural decrease in their population between 2020 to 2021.
