A family-like bond

By STU MERRY

The Meadows Assisted Living Facility is now in the hands of Benedictine Health Systems.

The Meadows is an 18-unit facility that adjoins the Benedictine Living Center in northeast Garrison.

The facility, which opened in 2009, is a joint effort between Better Living for Garrison and Benedictine Health Systems. Since the beginning, the transfer of ownership from BLFG to the Benedictine Health Systems within five years has been planned.

The initial formal proposal of transfer of ownership was presented to the BLFG board by Scott Foss, BLC administrator, at BLFG’s June 12, 2014, board meeting. Now, the transfer is complete.

The Meadows is the inaugural project of Better Living for Garrison. In fact, Better Living for Garrison came about out of a desire to build an assisted living facility in Garrison.

Both Foss and BLFG President Ron Krebsbach have been involved in creation of an assisted living facility in Garrison since its inception.

Krebsbach credits the community and surrounding area for welcoming such a facility.

"People want to live here because we have a lot of things. I think we are looked up at, the Garrison community, and this is one of those things that fills a need."
