Aggies roll past Lakers on homecoming night VDAG improves to 5-0 ahead of Region 3 showdown
The Velva-Drake/Anamoose-Garrison Aggies celebrated homecoming with another convincing victory and maintained their perfect start to the football season.
VDAG hosted Des Lacs-Burlington Friday, Sept. 18, and came away with a 32-6 win. The victory moved the Aggies to 5-0 overall and 3-0 in Region 3 while handing the Lakers their first regional loss of the season.
Facing an opponent that entered the week near the top of the standings, the Aggies delivered on both sides of the ball. VDAG scored 32 points against the Lakers while limiting the visitors to a single touchdown.
The 26-point margin allowed the Aggies to add another decisive result to their unbeaten opening stretch. It also strengthened their position atop Region 3 as the regular season moved beyond its midway point.
Des Lacs-Burlington remained among the region’s leading teams despite the setback. The Lakers left the contest with a 2-1 regional record and a 3-2 overall mark, placing them fourth in the standings.
VDAG held first place at 3-0 in regional play and 5-0 overall. However, the Aggies were not alone in entering the coming week without a Region 3 loss.
Ray/Powers Lake also stood at 3-0 in the region and carried a 4-1 overall record. The Jays’ lone defeat came outside regional competition, setting the stage for a meeting between the two remaining unbeaten teams in the Region 3 standings.
