Architect considered by school committee

The Garrison School District is starting to fill up its dance card.
Six architectural firms are vying for the district’s hand if a spin is taken at a bond issue for proposed additions to the schools.
The anticipation for the proposed project was obvious at a board committee meeting Nov. 4.
Steve Brannan, superintendent, shared the backgrounds of six architectural/engineering firms that have expressed an interest in the proposed project. Three of the firms toured the schools, while three solicited by phone and email.
Brannan said, “They all talked that the most important part is the planning. What are the challenges the district faces and how do we address those challenges?”
Brannan said he described the issues to prospective architects as:
• Space shortage at elementary school;
• Not having food service in the high school, which cuts into gym time at elementary and requires busing students to the school;
