Bond issue advanced

It’s time to get the ball rolling, bringing a bond issue before the patrons of the Garrison School District. Tuesday night, board members set those plans in motion, voting to proceed.
Board members chose Tuesday, Nov. 13, as the date for the election. The polling place will be at the Bob Callies Elementary School. Polls will be open from 7 a.m., to 7 p.m.
The bond will be for $9 million. The issuance of bonds, if approved, would provide funds to construct, remodel, improve and equip school buildings at both the high school and elementary campuses.
Board members voted to increase the indebtedness of the district 5 percent on the assessed value of taxable property beyond the 5 percent limit of indebtedness fixed by the Constitution.
Board member Rodger Affeldt said it is time to stop talking and take action.
