Building boom remains strong

Building boom remains strong
By STU MERRY

Construction in the area continues to be at a brisk pace.
Work continues on the expansion of Krause’s Garrison Super Valu. Building also continues on the new headquarters for Soli-Bond, an environmental cleanup firm for the oil industry. And more than a dozen new homes are popping up in and around Garrison. Those are just some of the major projects.
At their meeting Monday night, Garrison City Council members OK’d a number of new building permits. While many are small projects, one will include an expansion project at the Garrison Motel.
Council members gave the nod to a request by Dave Jeffrey to add three cabins. The units will be located near the three existing cabins on Fifth Street SE. The new cabins will be stick built, not pre-built like the original three. The master plan also has room for additional cabins.
Other building permits included: Garrison School (move-in portable classroom and shed), Rick Schumaier (shed); Ken Huesers (enclosed sun room); Danielle Rensch (deck); Tod Graeber (deck); Janis Sloka (deck), Levi Stoddard (addition to a hangar building); Lakeside Auto (car canopy); Osterlund Woodworks (house and garage).
