Burn ban issued

BY ALYSSA MEIER
For the seventh year in a row, McLean County Commissioners voted Tuesday to institute a burn ban, effective now through November.
The county-wide fire ban was approved during Tuesday’s McLean County Commission meeting. The ban, which has been put in place every year since at least 2015, restricts the use of fire and fireworks to days in which the fire danger rating is low, moderate or high.
According to the fire emergency and burn ban declaration, when the fire danger rating is very high or extreme or the county has issued a Red Flag warning, farm or crop land ignition, campfires, fireworks, charcoal grill use and garbage burning are prohibited. Violating the ban is a Class B Misdemeanor.
