GARRISON — Camp of the Cross Ministries is hoping to raise $25,000 on Giving Hearts Day in order to rehabilitate a retreat center on the camp’s acreage.
The Bethlehem Retreat House was originally used for staff housing and later as a retreat center to house guests, said Vickie Lindquist, the camp’s manager for programs and operations.
Now, it will be reverted back to staff housing, in particular for Camp of the Cross’ new executive director, Deacon Janie Hauge, who will officially take on the position full-time on March 1.
“It is in dire need of some love,” Lindquist said of the three bedroom, two bathroom house with a two car garage, which has been at the camp since 2001. “It’s a pretty big house. It does require some funds to do the improvements that it really needs.”
