Catching up with the times

It’s time for Garrison schools to move into the 21st Century when it comes to technology.
At the Tuesday night regular meeting of the school board, members heard from new superintendent Dr. Nick Klemisch.
To become familiar with the school’s two campuses, Klemisch said he has spent a lot of time going through both the high school and elementary school, assessing needs and the condition of what is in place.
One thing he noted is that Garrison Schools are technology-lacking.
In his report to the board, Klemisch said much of the technology being utilized throughout the high school is very old and not capable of doing many things.
"It’s definitely something we need to review and make a plan for renewals, especially, staff computers for the high school," he said.
The elementary school appears to have much more current technology, he observed.
Most of the computers at the elementary school were replaced last year, he understood.
A number of Active Boards are throughout most of the district, However, most have a different projector for some reason, he said.
Klemisch would like uniformity.
"It would be best to have consistency between the two buildings," he said. "It makes working on equipment much more efficient."
