Citizens request reduced speed for safety

By STU MERRY

A group of concerned citizens is asking that the speed limit along a portion of North Dakota Highway 37 be reduced from the present 45 mph to 25 mph. Their concern is for the safety of pedestrians who may cross the highway to visit the new Dairy Queen that is slated to open soon.

At Monday’s Garrison City council meeting, Tonya Graeber and Rhonda Iglehart presented a petition with more than 220 signatures, supporting the proposal.

The petition verbiage states that the undersigned would like to see a safe way for children, residents or visitors to cross from the north side of Highway 37, across the highway, to the Dairy Queen Grill and Chill if they are walking or riding bikes.
