City clarifies garbage policy
GARRISON – With spring arriving, many residents are busy cleaning yards and hedges, sprucing up their property. Often, that material finds its way into the green Waste Management totes that are emptied every Tuesday.
City officials remind residents that, according to the contract with Waste Management, everyone within city limits is required to have garbage collection. All household garbage and refuse must be placed in garbage bags and placed in the green tote.
According to the contract, the contractor (Waste Management) shall not be obligated to collect highly flammable, dangerous, or explosive materials.
