City’s park board members resign

The shoe has dropped.
All five members of the Garrison Park Board have resigned. The decision was made by board members at their meeting Oct. 12. A letter, signed by all members, was given to City Auditor Diane Affeldt this past Thursday.
Board members include President Paul Garcia, Vice President Paul Schlichting, and members Shelley Chase, Connie Krueger and Diane Krzmarzick. Combined, the five have more than 70 years of service.
The resignations are effective Nov. 10.
Board members say they are in accord that it is time for a change.
Garcia said he is stepping down for health reasons.
“I’ve always said I was going to resign,” he said. “I’ve been on more than 20 years. That’s long enough. We need new blood in there.”
