GARRISON – Starting next week, Colin Fischer plans on staying home and making hay. “I’m going to stay at home,” he said with a laugh. “I got a lot of work to do (there).” “Things that have been neglected for 30 years,” his wife Kathy added. For 38 years, 33 of those years at his location off Main Street in Garrison, Fischer operated Fischer’s Country Auto Body. This Friday, the doors of the business will close for good as the Fischer’s look toward greener pastures – pastures where buffalo, which the Fischer’s once raised, once roamed. The Fischer’s themselves will roam, traveling to see family in Minnesota and South Dakota, now that he is retiring. Regarding his decision to retire, Fischer said he was waiting for the right time. “I knew that someday, I knew when I was going to quit,” he said.
