By CHERYL ODDEN

Area youngsters are invited to attend a Community Halloween Party Friday at the Garrison City Auditorium. Following the party, a teen dance will be held at the same location.

The Halloween party, for children preschool through grade six, will be from 3:30-5:45 p.m. Party activities will include costume and pumpkin contests, games, a cakewalk and prizes.

Children who want to compete in the costume and pumpkin contests will need to register by 4:15 p.m. Grand prizes for the two contests will be $50 savings bonds. Hot dogs, pop and treats will be served during the event.

The teen dance will be from 8-11 p.m. During the dance, pizza, pop and treats will be provided. Door prizes and costume prizes will also be awarded.

According to Robin Proell, coordinator of the Halloween events, a few volunteers are still needed to help decorate. She said those who are willing to help decorate can come to the auditorium Thursday after 5 p.m. Based on the number of people who have already contacted her, Proell said she foresees a "desperate, desperate" need for additional volunteers to man games. Those who are willing to help are asked to contact her at 337-5615 or 337-6989.
