Community leaders celebrate Garrison’s newest attraction

Community leaders celebrate Garrison’s newest attraction

Visitors came Thursday afternoon to an open house, showcasing a new fish cleaning station, in Garrison off North Dakota Highway 37.

Garrison community leaders and representatives enjoyed grilled hot dogs and lemonade in and around the enclosed fish cleaning station, one of only two in the entire state, the other being in Devil’s Lake.

Mayor Stu Merry shared some benefits a community can reap with additions like this one.

“It’s these little things that make us a better community, the little amenities, anything like this is another draw for people.”

The new cleaning station was made possible through the collaboration of multiple local and state organizations, which Merry spoke to at the event.

“It’s groups working together, committees, groups and chambers,” Merry said. “Everybody trying to make the community a better place to live.”
