Counterfeit checks passed

A Towner man sits in a Rugby jail, but in mid-March, Brad Geyen found Garrison to his liking, writing counterfeit checks worth more than $880 at three Garrison businesses.
According to the McLean County Sheriff’s Department, Guyen wrote bogus checks at Krause’s Market ($101.94), Garrison Lumber ($687.50) and Farmers Union Oil ($91.29).
Garrison isn’t the only community Geyen found attractive. Chief Deputy JR Kerzmann, said Geyen wrote counterfeit checks in Velva, Towner and Rugby.
Using surveillance footage from Krause’s Market helped county authorities track down the perpetrator. A warrant was executed on Geyen’s home and more than two trailers of merchandise, purchased with the phony checks, was recovered. Geyen is originally from Wisconsin.
