County contests highlight elections

Two races will be contested in McLean County in Tuesday’s General Election – that of one county commission seat, the other for county sheriff.
Doug Krebsbach is challenging Pam Link for District 1 commission seat. commission District 3, incumbent Steve Lee is running unopposed.
A new sheriff will be elected to replace 16-year veteran Sheriff Don Charging who is retiring. Deputies Curt Olson and JR Kerzmann are seeking the post.
In addition to contested races for sheriff and county commission the offices of auditor (Les Korgel), recorder (Beth Knutson), and state’s attorney (Ladd Erickson) are also on the ballot. All are unopposed.
Byron Holtan is on the ballot for supervisor, West McLean Soil Conservation District. Wilton H. Kuehn III is on the ballot for supervisor, South McLean Soil Conservation District.
Rick Anderson is seeking re-election to the director post on the Garrison Diversion Conservancy District.
The county’s two largest newspapers, the McLean County Independent and the Leader-News, will compete for the title of official county newspaper.
State
At the state level, the offices of Secretary of State, Attorney General, Agriculture Commissioner and Tax Commission will be on the ballot for four-year terms along with filling a six-year term and unexpired two-year term on the Public Service Commission.
Secretary of State Al Jaeger, R, is challenged by April Fairfield, the Democratic-NPL pick, and Libertarian Party choice Roland Riemers
Incumbent Republican Wayne Stenehjem is challenged by Democratic-NPL candidate Kiara Kraus-Parr for the attorney general post.
Doug Goehring, the current ag commissioner, a Republican, is being countered by the Democratic-NPL’s Ryan Taylor.
