Court favors contractor

Court favors contractor

Martin Construction, Dickinson, could be awarded more than $3 million after a legal tussle with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. The judgment was made public this past week.
The suit was filed after the Corps terminated a contract with Martin Construction to build a new marina at Fort Stevenson State Park.
The Dickinson-based company began work on the project in mid-2007.
After work on the marina lagged behind schedule, the Corps broke the contract and hired another company to complete the project, Garrison Bay Marina. The marina project was completed in time for the 2009 summer recreation season.
