Courthouse savers seek ballot question

Courthouse savers seek ballot question
The McLean County Heritage Preservation Foundation recently gave the McLean County auditor a letter for the county commissioners regarding halting the demolition of the McLean County courthouse. The group plans to put together a petition to put a question to voters that they say could stop demolition.
A question has already been voted on on Nov. 2, 2010. County Measure No. 1 voted on nearly two years ago asked “Should the McLean County Board of Commissioners build a new courthouse?” After explaining the costs associated with the new courthouse, it states at the end of the measure that, “The new courthouse would be located on current courthouse and law enforcement center site, and the old courthouse complex would be demolished.”
The public voted and that measure passed 2,558 to 1,328.
