COVID-19 cases in state plummet

Burgum declares shift from pandemic to endemic status for ND

While the number of active cases of COVID-19 have gone up slightly in McLean County, active cases overall in the state are continuing to drop, two years after the first case was reported in the state. The North Dakota Department of Health reported on Friday that cases are declining throughout the state. In all, there were 440 active cases, a drop of 395 cases from March 4. McLean County was a handful of counties which reported between 10 to 49 active cases while several counties had between one to nine. A good-sized number of counties, including Oliver County, had no active cases. Cass County, which was at one time the hub of active cases in the state, reported 52 active cases. Rolette County had the
second-highest number with 62 cases, while Burleigh County reported the most: 117 active cases. As the numbers of COVID-19 cases continue to plummet, Gov. Doug Burgum
announced last Thursday that the state would shift toward an endemic status. An endemic “occurs when the disease is present but there are no large shifts in case counts and the patterns of the infection become more stable,” a press release from the Governor’s office explained.
