Curfew is proposed

Curfew is proposed

By STU MERRY

City officials agree – it’s time to give serious consideration to implementing a curfew in Garrison.
Curfews have been considered by the council in the past but have failed to take root due to backlash from some residents who say doing so would be too confining.
But with recent reports of vandalism and burglaries in the community fresh in their minds, council members agree; now maybe the time to clamp down on late night illegal activity. The first steps were taken Tuesday night at the council’s monthly meeting.
McLean County Deputy JR Kerzmann planted the seed, saying what he’s seen during his patrols in Garrison is disturbing. He said he’s noticed youth out late at night, “running around” various areas in the city.
The recent incidents are creating concern in the community – not only with residents, but with council members as well.
