Engel out, Nygard and Sloka in

The voters replaced one incumbent and re-elected another in the election Tuesday.
Daryl Engel, who has been on the board for seven years, was defeated by Bonnie Nygard, 222-155.
Jerry Sayler, a board member since 2004, beat Chris Seidler 185-151 in the Garrison School Board election.
Janis Sloka III was elected in an uncontested race.
The new school board members will take their seats July 1. Incumbent Paul Duben, who joined the board in 2004, did not seek re-election.
Nygard, a retired teacher and the first educator to the school board in many years, was elected to a two-year position. Sayler and Sloka were elected to three-year positions.
A total of 382 people voted Tuesday. The record in recent years was when 395 people voted in 2003.
There were many write-in candidates in the election Tuesday.
